Kathak We Teach – From Beginner to Advanced
Offline and Online, Kathak exams are available for all students from Gandharva Mahavidhyalaya (Certificate and Diploma)
Tatkar (Footwork): Learning basic rhythmic stamping patterns.
Hastak (Hand Movements): Introduction to graceful arm and hand movements.
Basic Mudras (Hand Gestures): Understanding symbolic meanings.
Chakkars (Spins): Practicing simple spins with balance.
Taal Awareness: Introduction to Teentaal , Dadra Taal and Keherva Taal- rhythm cycles and counting.
Small compositions in Teentaal - Tukra, Chakardar Tukra, Tihai, Aamad, Thaat, Rangmanch tukra, Paran, Chakardar Paran, Saadi and Mor Mukut Gatnikas, Laya baant, Kavitt.
Basic Abhinaya (Expression): Saraswati Vandana - First steps in expressing emotions through face and eyes.
Advanced Tatkar: Complex footwork combinations with speed and precision.
Expanded Mudras: Using hasta mudras to express detailed stories.
Abhinaya Training: Bhajan, Guru Vandana, Thumri - Deeper practice of expressions, emotions, and storytelling.
Gat Bhav: Chedchad gatbhav, Kaliya daman gatbhav, Draupadi cheer haran gatbhav, Hori - Portraying mythological characters and stories through dance.
GatNikas- Ghunghat, Bansuri, Matki, Jhumar, Ruksaar, Anchal
Taal & Laya Mastery: Practicing different talas (rhythmic cycles) - Jhaptaal , Ektaal and Rupak Taal. Learning compositions in these Taals like Thaat, Tukra, Paran , Parmelu, etc.
Advance Teental - More advance compositions - Uthaan , Paran Aamad, Farmaishi paran and tihai, Ganesh Paran, Tishra Jati paran, tihai and Tukra, ladi, chalan and many more.
Improvised Spins (Chakkars): Learning multiple fast spins with grace.
Introduction to Complex Taals:
- Dhamaar Taal, Raas Taal, Pancham Sawari, Shikar Taal, Matt Taal - Different compositions: Tukra, Tihai, Paran, etc.
Ashta Nayika Presentation:
- Through Gatbhav (expressive storytelling with dance movements)
Vocal and Classical Compositions:
- Thumri, Baithki Thumri, Surdas Bhajan, Shiv Stuti, Tarana
Gatnikas:
- Naav Gatnikas
- Ghunghat ke Prakar (types of veil performances)
Classical Compositions:
- Chaturang
- Ashtapadi
Navras Abhinaya:
- Expressing nine emotions through dance.
Gatbhav Performances:
- Sita Haran
- Kans Vadh
Composition Creation:
Creating own compositions like Tukra, Tihai, etc.
